Online Poker Room Review
Redlight Poker is a play money poker room and you will find some fixed limit games going at most times. If you like play money poker this is probably a good place to play. The site is well designed and it is affiliated with allinlounge.com which is a poker forum with some activity in it, one would wish that more real money poker rooms would look this good - and I'm not just referring to the fact that the girls don't have a lot of clothes on. It's very tasteful, nothing indecent (if you trust a Scandinavian's assessment on this). As it is a play money site it is however a little bit out of the scope of Pokerator.com - not so much because we aren't in principle interested in reviewing play money rooms as because many of the rating categories don't apply unless the real green thing is changing owners over the table.
Poker Network
This poker room is not part of any network. This is not necessarily a drawback as some of the best poker rooms with long track records and busy traffic are stand-alone.

The Joplin Technology client is only used by a single poker room, Redlight Poker and this poker room only offers play money games. One does get the impression that the current use of this software is some type of beta testing. The software is by no means bad – it would almost be acceptable in a real money poker room although there are few features and some essential functions are under construction.
The lobby is a standard lobby with game lists (even tournaments) and buttons that take you to places such as cashier and support. Waiting lists and a function with the label “reserve table” return a dialog telling you that this function is under construction. The graphics throughout are really nice and clean.
The tables are simple but I have seen a lot worse so for a poker room whose income streams are highly unclear this is not bad at all. The buttons and controls have nice mouse over effects to tell you what is clickable and that the software is alive. Playing several tables is not very smooth however, although in its current use I doubt this is of any central importance. The sound effects are irritating and non-standard and focus transfer between tables doesn’t seem to exist. When I attempted to try out the no limit table I realized that something was strange here: the table was full but no action was taking place. It seems that the no limit table is just a dummy.
The tournament lists and lobbies work well although some essential functions are missing such as an option to unregister from a tournament. All in all, this might turn into a good software one day. As it stands, it is quite adequate for play money games. |
