As you probably have noticed if you have played poker on the Internet, you can interact with your opponents not only through the cards but also via chat. The chat functionality is generally very simple: your write a text and hit the send button and your message will show up in the chat box with your screen name in front of it. The "dealer" (that is, the server) also communicates verbally through the chat box and you can configure the chat to filter out certain types of information. Most players have their setting such that player chat and dealer summary is displayed: displaying all dealer information usually makes it hard to follow conversations. Not all players chat but most do reply to courtesy messages from fellow players. It is mildly rude not to reply to e.g. a "nh" (nice hand) although an occasional failure to do so is generally accepted.
